Deep Black
A downloadable game for Windows
You are a deserter. The galaxy belongs to something that does not forgive.
Deep Black is a multiplayer space-survival sandbox set in a procedurally generated galaxy patrolled by the Authority, a machine intelligence that notices everything you do. Salvage, mine, craft, and build hidden bases in the deep void. Every ship you fly can be lost, every base can be found, and everything you own was taken from somewhere.
What works today (early development — expect rough edges and wipes):
A persistent online galaxy — one shared server; your pilot, ships, and bases survive between sessions
Real loss — die and your ship, weapons, and cargo drop into a wreck where you fell; fly back and win them back, or lose them to someone faster
Five ship classes — from the humble free spawn ship to a four-hardpoint battleship, printed at your own shipyard and fitted in the bay: seven weapon types, fire groups, gimballed targeting, homing ordnance. Every hull flies differently — scouts flick, freighters swing their mass around
Mine by gunnery — asteroid belts carry mineable rocks: shoot them apart and scoop the ore cache. Guns are your first pick; automation comes later
Hidden void bases — as many as you can hold — claim pockets of empty space, veil them from other players, and build: power grids, refineries, workshops, shield bubbles, laser and rail turrets, hangars, jump relays linking your empire together
An empire that gets noticed — sprawl raises your standing heat, and run hot enough and the Authority strikes your bases: a countdown warning, then a fight — fly home and defend, or read the damage report
Faction bases worth raiding — hand-built Authority and Nostoi outposts spawn across the galaxy, defended by turrets, shields, and escort wings, sitting on stores that spill when they fall. Lock their guns like ships and pick them apart
A full industrial chain — deploy mining drones to contested planets (yields are shared — you'll feel the competition), refine ore, fabricate precursors, distil the strategic resource everything runs on
Friends and teams — mutual friends, leader-run teams, with shared void access, base storage, and team-safe turrets rolling out across the next updates
Sound, targeting, events — wrecks drift in, guards patrol them, hostiles warp in on the careless — paced like raids, not conveyor belts
Coming: base raiding with collapsible shields and siege ordnance, the Gravimetric Pinpointer hunt for hidden bases, player chat, logistics drones you can intercept, jump-engine ranges and fuel, research, and much more. Built in the open — the roadmap is real and moving fast, with patch notes on the pilot screen every update.
We have the Deep Black Frontier server running, download, join and play. All feedback/bug reports welcome.
